Weekend Chef – Private Residence

Location: New York, NY

Compensation: 400-600/ Day

Position Overview

A private family is seeking a skilled and adaptable chef to provide exceptional culinary services three to four days per week, primarily on weekends, with some weekday responsibilities. The ideal candidate will prepare delicious, health-conscious meals for a family of five, including three young children, while also catering to small gatherings of up to 12 guests. The schedule includes Shabbat dinner on Fridays, family brunch on Saturdays, and dinner service on Sundays, with one to two additional weekday dinners as needed. Flexibility is required.

Responsibilities

• The chef will be responsible for planning and preparing kosher-style meals, avoiding shellfish, pork, and the mixing of dairy and meat.
• Source high-quality, organic ingredients from premium vendors and prepare a diverse range of cuisines, including Mediterranean, Greek, Israeli, Japanese (including sushi), and Italian. Additional duties include stocking the home with healthy snacks, preparing fresh juices, coordinating with the nanny on children’s meal preparation, and offering meal prep options for the family.
• Maintain open communication with family members who enjoy participating in the cooking process.
• Understanding of dietary preferences, including kosher-style cooking without the need for kosher-certified meat, health-conscious meal preparation, and adventurous menu planning for a food-enthusiast family member.

Requirements

• The ideal candidate will be highly skilled and adaptable in various culinary techniques, collaborative and team-oriented with a professional attitude, organized and detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple meals and dietary preferences.
• Creativity and innovation in menu planning are essential, along with comfort working in a private household environment.
• 3+ years of experience required in private home
• Candidate demonstrates a passion for fresh, healthy, and elevated home cooking.
