Job Description

Your Role:

Manage and oversee the daily operations of a Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) packing site in Aurora, IL. Oversee food production and packing environment, donations and all site revenue, warehousing, retail operations, facility management, compliance, and provide an exceptional volunteer experience. Lead large site teams comprised of full and part time staff with excellence and vision. Meet or exceed site production, engagement, and fundraising goals. Uphold food safety and quality, and workplace safety compliance.  

Pay, Schedule & Benefits:

  • The anticipated starting range is $77,000-$80,000. This compensation range considers a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experiences, as well as internal equity.
  • This is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position with M-F business hours, with some evening/weekend hours required.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead strategy for reaching site-level goals and initiatives through staff engagement and leadership development.
  • Oversee and manage tactical operations in warehousing, food production, Marketplace sales, fundraising, volunteer recruitment, staff appreciation, etc. Utilize KPIs to understand performance, identify opportunities for growth and celebrate achievements.
  • Hire, train, supervise and manage performance of site personnel. Effectively communicate information across shifts. Facilitate meetings.  Mentor Assistant Site Manager. Guide and coach staff in meeting site objectives.
  • Participate on the site management leadership team. Collaborate on strategic projects and process improvements affecting site operations nationwide.
  • Collaborate with interdepartmental contacts from logistics, supply chain, development, marketing, accounting, HR, IT etc. on large-scale projects and initiatives. Occasionally participate on project teams.
  • Respond to daily and seasonal changes in production, volunteer recruitment, staffing, compliance, donations, etc. Troubleshoot, create solutions, and communicate and delegate action plans.
  • Oversee adherence to food safety, food quality and workplace safety policies and procedures. Maintain OSHA and FDA compliance (full Food Manager Safety Certification training provided).
  • Manage vendor relationships and partner with Project Manager on facilities projects and lease agreement compliance. Direct facility maintenance. Adhere to lease agreements and uphold FMSC’s Due Diligence process.
  • Oversee administration, including ordering supplies, completing bank deposits, communicating with the public, etc.
  • Manage site budget, and complete required production, safety, and inventory tracking and reporting.
  • Occasionally complete the duties of direct reports (high volume seasons, low staffing seasons, etc.). Act as a Volunteer Program Facilitator, complete warehouse tasks, clean, etc.
  • Lead one of the Focus Areas for all of Site Manufacturing, hosting Focus Areas calls once per month.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications:

  • Passionate about FMSC’s Christian mission and living it out in the workplace.
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, 5 years of related work experience and 2 years of supervisory experience required. In lieu of degree, relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Strong leadership, analysis, assertive delegation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong change management and decision making skills. Able to lead with energy, passion, and urgency.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, public speaking, customer service and writing skills.
  • Able to prioritize, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Respect volunteers of all ages, religious beliefs, ethnicities and types (ex. special needs, court-compelled).
  • Able to maintain energy and stamina with nearly continual standing and walking.
  • Able to push, pull, lift 30-50 lbs. repeatedly, bend, twist and use hand tools like scissors.
  • Able to tolerate consistent exposure to soy (an allergen).
