Job Description

We are looking for an immediate long-term contract opening for a Operations Manager in Atlanta, GA for our client in a Cargo facility. 

The Operations Manager oversees and coordinates import-export activities and warehouse operations within the transportation/aviation sector. This role ensures the efficient flow of goods, adherence to international trade regulations, and optimization of warehouse processes to support the organization’s goals of timely delivery and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory management, and shipping.
  • Ensure proper handling, packaging, and labeling of goods in compliance with industry and safety standards.
  • Maintain warehouse equipment and infrastructure to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track warehouse efficiency and productivity.
  • Coordinate import and export activities, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and aviation-specific standards.
  • Oversee transportation logistics, including freight forwarding, carrier selection, and shipment scheduling.
  • Prepare and verify shipping documentation such as air waybills, bills of lading, invoices, and certificates of origin.
  • Manage customs declarations and ensure timely clearance of shipments.
  • Implement inventory management systems to ensure accurate stock levels and reduce shrinkage.
  • Plan and forecast inventory needs to align with operational demands and minimize costs.
  • Perform regular audits to ensure inventory accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with aviation and international trade regulations, including customs laws and tariff classifications.
  • Work with compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulations and resolve any compliance issues.
  • Implement procedures to mitigate risks related to import-export operations and regulatory changes.
  • Plan and manage the logistics of goods movement within the aviation network, ensuring timely delivery to end-users.
  • Collaborate with freight forwarders, airlines, and ground transportation providers to optimize routes and schedules.
  • Monitor transportation costs and negotiate contracts with logistics providers to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
  • Continuously evaluate warehouse and logistics processes, implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce bottlenecks.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks, including customs delays, supply chain disruptions, and equipment failures.
  • Develop contingency plans to ensure uninterrupted operations during unforeseen circumstances.

Minimum Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. 
  • Frequently moves cargo in the warehouse weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the warehouse and office to access cargo shipments and airwaybills.

Work Environment:

  • Sometimes exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures. 
  • Occasionally work in extremely bright or dim lighting conditions.
  • Workspaces may not be temperature-controlled.
  • Work near/ share same workspace with others.
  • Often work indoors but may sometimes work outdoors. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in warehouse and import-export operations within the transportation or aviation industry.
  • Knowledge of aviation-specific logistics practices, international trade regulations, and customs processes.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems, ERP software, and data analysis tools.
  • Must be able to work weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and holidays. Peak Season (November-December) may require longer hours 
  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language 
  • Ability to understand and react to verbal commands and safety warnings, with and without, assistance of sight or visual aids

Shift hours:

Operation-Monday to Sunday

1st shift 10 AM to 6:30 PM

Pay Rate: 

Annual Salary $90,000
