**Position: Senior Accountant**
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Senior Accountant to support a busy entrepreneur managing multiple businesses and family needs. This role offers a unique opportunity for growth and development in a fast-paced setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong accounting background, proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop, and experience in a Family Office environment.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Accounting Management:** Oversee accounting functions for several low-volume entities (5 to 10) using the QuickBooks platform.
- **Accounts Payable:** Manage medium-volume payables, collaborate with vendors to reduce costs, set up accounts, and prepare year-end 1099 forms.
- **Accounts Receivable:** Handle low-volume receivables, primarily for expense reimbursements.
- **Reconciliations:** Conduct reconciliations for checking/savings accounts, brokerages, retirement accounts, loans, credit cards, inter-company transactions, and received 1099s.
- **General Ledger Entries:** Process entries related to liabilities, assets, adjusting entries, and reconciliations to K1 tax forms, working closely with external tax preparers.
- **Tax Reporting:** Prepare quarterly and year-end 1099 vendor reports, manage income tax estimated payments, and assist with tax return worksheets in collaboration with CPAs and government agencies.
- **Compliance Filings:** File and process annual Statements of Information and dues with various states.
- **Estate Planning:** Calculate cash distributions in accordance with estate plan documents, coordinating with related attorneys.
- **Tax Strategy:** Develop strategies to minimize income tax liabilities and maximize deductions.
- **Human Resources Management:** Oversee HR functions for 1 to 2 entities, including payroll processing using Gusto or ADP, ensuring compliance with employee handbooks and state/federal regulations.
- **Insurance Compliance:** Manage Worker's Compensation insurance and annual compliance requirements.
- **Onboarding and Training:** Collaborate with the Chief of Staff on new hires, onboarding, training, and supervising home-based caregivers.
- **Benefits Management:** Handle annual benefits renewal processes for medical, dental, retirement, and PTO.
- **Project Management:** Coordinate with various parties to rebuild after a total loss due to fire, including liaising with insurance companies for reimbursements and disbursements.
- **Record Reconstruction:** Assist in recreating lost accounting records to ensure compliance and facilitate tax return preparation.
- **Medical Insurance Claims:** Regularly submit medical insurance claims and work with providers and insurance carriers to ensure proper coverage.
- **Charitable Foundations:** Learn about and assist in developing a nascent charitable foundation.
- **Real Estate Management:** Manage rental agreements for three properties.
- **Investment Assistance:** Help complete paperwork for private investments.
- **Entity Management:** Collaborate with attorneys, external CPAs, and consultants on the formation and dissolution of entities.
- **QuickBooks Setup:** Establish QuickBooks procedures and systems to ensure accurate accounting and reporting to state and federal agencies.
**Work Environment:**
This is an in-office position with potential flexibility for remote work in the West Los Angeles area in the future. You will be supported by a part-time accountant who has been a valuable team member for the past 20 years.
**Salary:** $75,000 to $90,000, commensurate with experience.
