Job Description: Regional Operations Manager - Lumber Industry - Direct hire - Rocky Mountain States
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Regional Operations Manager to oversee and optimize the operations of multiple lumberyards within a designated region. This role will focus on streamlining processes, improving operational efficiency, and driving marketing strategies to enhance sales and customer engagement. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in the lumber industry, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven ability to develop and execute innovative marketing strategies tailored to the unique needs of lumberyards and their customer base.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Management:

* Oversee day-to-day operations at multiple lumberyard locations, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and productivity standards.
* Develop and implement standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency and consistency across all locations.
* Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure adequate stock while minimizing carrying costs.
* Collaborate with yard managers to optimize scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation.

2. Sales and Marketing Strategy:

* Develop and execute regional marketing strategies to attract contractors, builders, and other key customer segments.
* Analyze market trends and customer needs to identify growth opportunities and adjust marketing tactics accordingly.
* Oversee the development of promotional campaigns, digital marketing initiatives, and community outreach programs to increase brand visibility and loyalty.
* Establish partnerships with local businesses and organizations to expand the customer base.

3. Leadership and Team Development:

* Lead, mentor, and inspire yard managers and staff to achieve performance goals.
* Conduct regular training sessions to enhance employees' product knowledge and customer service skills.
* Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the region.

4. Financial and Performance Oversight:

* Develop and manage regional budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations while meeting revenue targets.
* Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales growth, profitability, and operational efficiency.
* Prepare regular reports for senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations to drive strategic decision-making.

5. Customer Engagement:

* Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, addressing their needs and concerns promptly.
* Develop customer loyalty programs tailored to the lumber industry to encourage repeat business.
* Regularly visit lumberyard locations to interact with customers and understand their experiences firsthand.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Operations Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
* 7+ years of experience in the lumber industry, with at least 3 years in a managerial role overseeing multiple locations.
* Strong understanding of the lumber market, including product knowledge and industry trends.
* Proven experience developing and executing marketing strategies to drive sales and customer engagement.
* Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to travel frequently within the assigned region.
* Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and operational performance metrics.

Preferred Skills:

* Experience in digital marketing and CRM tools specific to the lumber industry.
* Knowledge of regional building codes and regulations impacting lumberyards.
* Familiarity with sustainable lumber practices and green building initiatives.
