Job Description: Intake Data Specialist – P/T

Position Overview:

The intake specialist is responsible for managing the initial contact and intake process for clients or patients for social service, healthcare, and community relief programs.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Client/Patient Service: Interacting and servicing clients or patients in person, over the phone, or through electronic communication to gather initial information and assess their needs.
• Documentation and Data Collection: Collecting detailed information about clients or patients such as medical history, demographic info, insurance coverage, and legal documentation. This process is data entry driven. 
• Data Management: Maintain organized records of client information, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
• Referral and Coordination: Providing information about available services, resources, or programs that may address the client's or patient's needs. This could involve making referrals to other departments within the organization or to external agencies.
• Customer Service: Provides excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, concerns, or complaints in a timely and professional manner, ensuring that clients or patients feel supported and valued throughout the intake process.
• Confidentiality and Compliance: Adhering to strict confidentiality guidelines and ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) in healthcare settings or GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) in other industries.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma. Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.
• Customer Service or Administrative Support experience.
• Great communication and interpersonal skills.
• Computer Literacy- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, electronic data entry, and word processing.
• Must have excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Able to work 24 hours per week.
