For Water Street Mission to fulfill its mission and purpose, it is critical for all staff to participate in the development and maintenance of a healthy Christian Community. Even as some positions have minimal direct contact with guests, each staff member has an essential role in forming and maintaining Christian community. The love of Christ, evidenced in our Water Street community, is the real impetus for change with our guests.
Job Summary:
The Career and Financial Services Coach is responsible for ensuring that all WSM Residential guests have a clear path to sustainable income and that guests are supported on their journey toward financial wellness. Their primary responsibilities are to assist guests in creating a plan to manage their finances with intentionality while supporting employable guests as they develop work skills and tackle personal challenges that could limit their employability. The CFS Coach facilitates classes/groups/workshops on the topics of finances and career readiness and navigation to our guests and neighbors in Residential, Shelter, Compass, Teen Haven, and Outreach, as well as former guests of WSM.

• Share the Good News of Jesus Christ in words and actions with people we serve, communicating hope and dignity.
• Walk alongside fellow WSM staff in Christian community as we journey toward maturity.
• Encourage restoration in the lives of coworkers and guests, recognizing we are each restored by God to become restorers.
• Work in full coordination with other WSM staff at all times to identify, report and respond appropriately to any potential threats to the safety and wellbeing of guests.
Role Specific Responsibilities
• Provide orientation for residential guests pertaining to community tasks.
• Support guests in task assignments, providing feedback that assists guests in meeting their career goals.
• Coach guests/neighbors in the development of job competencies, resume-building and job searching with a vocational mindset.
• Coach guests/neighbors on financial management, including budgeting, credit, and saving in preparation for financial independence.
• Collect program fees from residential guests. Document and track program fees; follow up with guests as needed.
• Minister to guests/neighbors, reflecting God's love for each individual, through a nonjudgmental, grace-filled relationship.
• Work as part of the Career and Financial Services team in facilitating classes, groups, and workshops related to career development and faith-based financial management, developing or adapting curriculum to fit the various programs of WSM.
• Problem solve and assist in conflict resolution with Residential guests in task assignments and employment.
• Maintain accurate data management and guest/neighbor information including documentation.
• Work in partnership with other Mission Program staff to support each guest's journey.
• Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings as needed.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
A bachelor's degree and/or 5 years of professional experience is required. In addition, preference will be given to candidates with experience in finances, career navigation, drug & alcohol addictions, and/or mental health. Competency in Microsoft Office products is essential. A valid PA driver's license is required. The candidate must be in agreement with the philosophy of Water Street Mission. Spanish-speaking skills are an asset.
